Class 2 Medicals
- One of the pre-requisites for entering aviation is making sure that you are Medically Fit to
Fly or not. So, first things first, get yourself medically tested from DGCA approved Medical
Examiner. - The list of such DGCA approved Doctors/Aero-Medical Examiners: (link)
- You need to make an account on the eGCA portal : (link)
- A typical Class 2 Medical Examination comprises of routine medical assessments such as :
Eye Check-Up (to ensure 6/6 Vision), Audiometry Test (to ensure clear and unambiguous
hearing), ECG, Chest X-Ray, Blood Tests, Urine Tests etc - If reports are normal, then the Doctor/AME provides you with a certification called as CA-35,
which acts as your temporary medical assessment certification until your actual medical
assessment arrives from DGCA (Delhi) itself - Once issued your Class 2 Medical Assessment is valid for a period of 2 years from the Date of
Examination. - Average Cost of Class 2 Medicals Assessment goes up to 10,000/- to 12,000/-
Computer Number
- Computer Number is a unique identification number issued by DGCA. This number is treated as a Roll Number for you to apply for your DGCA Theory Papers or for any further correspondence with DGCA.
- Now, how do we get this Computer Number? DGCA’s official website has a separate segment called Pariksha Portal: (link) which gives a User Manual describing step-by-step process for the issuance of Computer Number.
- The Manual states that we need to have certain documents prior to applying (for example : 10 th and 12 th Marksheets, Board Verification Certificate, Aadhar Card, Pages of Log Book, Visa, Photo, Signature, etc)
- NOTE: These documents should be uploaded on the Pariksha portal in certain dimensional specification and KB restrictions. So, make sure you do that in order to avoid rejection.
- Once you apply for your Computer Number on Pariksha portal you will be issued with the same within a period of 45 days if, the documentation is in order.

Type-Rating:
- After getting your CPL on a Single Engine aircraft, your next step will be learning how to fly bigger jets.
- Type – rating allows you to do that
- You can get type-rated on the aircrafts which the airlines have in their fleet or if you wish to join a Charter Company.
- It is a 40 days to a 2 months course in which you go rigorous training to learn how to fly a jet.
- It is all a Simulator Flying, no actual flying of an aircraft is done at this stage.
- The Simulator gives you a ‘Hands-On’ experience to fly your big commercial jetsto fly yor big commercial jets.
- For Type – Rating there are two options :
a) Either you get your Type – Rating done and wait for a job (15 – 17 lacs)
b) Or get a Job first and then get your Type – Rating done according to what the Airline requires. (We personally recommend this option)
